WE ARE First Baptist Church Oxford
Welcome to First Baptist Church! We are so glad you found us, and we are eager to connect with you, share what we’re all about, and help you get connected. We welcome anyone to come to our services where God’s Word is the center of our worship and is taught and preached regularly.
Parents can be confident that their children will be in a structured environment, learning the Bible and how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We invite you and your family to join us for church this Sunday.

Who We Are
We are an independent, Bible-believing, evangelistic, distinct, and established Baptist Church. At First Baptist Church, the Bible is the standard of truth for what we believe and practice. We stand by and proclaim God’s Word without reservation or apology.
We offer Sunday school (temporarily suspended) and Jr. Church for children up to 3rd grade.
Further, at First Baptist Church, we take seriously Christ’s challenge to us to give the good news of new life in Christ to the whole world. This includes our neighbor next door, as well as those on the other side of the globe.
We are privileged to support missions, domestic and foreign. We support missionaries all over the globe, from right here in Oxford, PA to West Africa and France and Cambodia. Our missionaries include church planting, medical missions, and outreaches to youth. We are excited to be a part of influencing our world for the kingdom of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join with us in the excitement of seeing God work globally.
WHAT WE BELIEVE:
We believe that there is but one God who exists as three coequal and eternal persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Humankind was created in the image of God and has been given dominion and charge over all of God’s creation (environment, animals, birds, sea creatures, etc.). As a result of Adam’s disobedience, death and sin (rebellion against God) became man’s natural state (all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23).
While the creation gives ample evidence of the existence and nature of God, He has chosen to give humankind a special revelation in the book we call the Holy Bible, containing 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. These Scriptures, in the original documents, are the divinely inspired and infallible Word of God. They have been preserved and protected by God so that we have a reliable and authoritative rule for faith and life.
The Christian Message
The Christian message proclaims to humankind that they are without hope, utterly unable to be reconciled to a holy and just God if left to their own works and abilities. The good news (Gospel) is that God has out of His love for us provided in Christ Jesus (God in the flesh), by His death, burial, and resurrection, a means for humankind to be reconciled to Himself. An individual receives this gift of eternal life by an act of faith (trust) in the finished work of Christ. Those who are regenerated (born again) to new life in Christ can be assured of their eternal security in Christ. Those who ignore or reject God’s offer of a new life in Christ will suffer eternal condemnation and punishment in hell.
The church is the universal community of the elect in Christ and is made visible through the local church. Jesus Christ is the head of the church. Believers are to gather together in the local church to glorify God by worshipping Him, by being built up in the faith, and by reaching out into the world with the love and gospel of Christ. The church has been entrusted with the Great Commission and thus is responsible to proclaim the gospel of Christ to all persons everywhere. We at First Baptist Church recognize two ordinances: Believer’s baptism and The Lord’s Supper.
God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 2:24-25; Romans 1:18-31; 1 Timothy 1:8-11). Further, God created the human race male and female and all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one’s birth gender is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 1:27).
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Aaron Smalley ministered at First Baptist from June 2011–July 2021. He is currently serving as a Chaplain in the Air Force.
Our Pulpit Committee is diligently seeking a new pastor. In the interim, a local retired pastor and some other Biblically-based speakers are providing the Sunday morning messages. Laymen lead the Wednesday night prayer meeting.
